Processes: CARC

When equipment coatings have to stand up to requirements as strict as the United State’s military’s, Prince Manufacturing has the answer.

For Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the United States military shipped thousands of vehicles and other pieces of equipment to the Persian Gulf. Much of the equipment had the familiar three-color "woodland" camouflage scheme designed for Europe. Unfortunately, these colors are easy to spot against the backdrop of the barren desert environment. Needless to say, there is an urgent operational requirement to repaint equipment with tan-colored paint to provide desert camouflage protection. Another operational requirement was protection against chemical warfare agents.

The military established painting operations in Saudi Arabia to paint vehicles tan with so-called chemical agent resistant coating (CARC) paint. CARC is a polyurethane paint that provides superior durability, extends service life for military vehicles and equipment, provides surfaces with superior resistance to chemical warfare agent penetration, and greatly simplifies decontamination. To meet harsh conditions in the Middle East and other areas, the United States military paints vehicles with Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) paint.

Prince Manufacturing is fully certified to meet the military’s most strict CARC requirements.
